Comments

• Name, email, comment text, IP address and browser user-agent are stored to fight spam.

• An anonymised email hash may be sent to the Gravatar service to show your avatar. See Automattic’s policy at https://automattic.com/privacy/.

Media uploads

• Avoid uploading images with embedded GPS data. Site visitors can download and extract that information.

• Comment cookies store your name, email and site for one year so you do not re-enter them next time.

• Login cookies last two days (two weeks if “Remember Me” is selected).

• Editing an article sets a post-ID cookie that expires after 24 hours.

• A temporary cookie checks if your browser accepts cookies when you visit the login page; it is deleted when you close the browser.

Embedded content

Articles may include videos, images or posts from external sites. Those sites may collect data, use cookies and track your interaction exactly as if you had visited them directly.

Analytics

• Comments and related metadata: indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognised automatically.

• User accounts (if any): until the user deletes the profile; admins can also delete or edit data.

We do not sell or rent your personal data to any third party.

• Rectification – correct inaccurate data.

Visitor comments may be checked by Akismet; servers can be located in the EU or the USA. Providers rely on standard contractual clauses to stay GDPR-compliant.

• SSL/TLS encryption for all traffic.

• Regular backups and two-factor admin logins.

• Continuous security updates for the site software.

We may revise this privacy policy. The “last updated” date will change accordingly. Continued use of the website means you accept the new terms.
